Surfin' USA Print
This was taken at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica, California. Many folks will know Linda Mar for its great surfing conditions as well as the "World Famous" Taco Bell that is directly on the beach. But there's another great sight there during the summer: Humpback Whales! 2024 was an amazing year for whale watching in Pacifica. Both Humpack and Gray Whales like to feed in the (relatively) shallow waters right off of San Francisco Bay, but last year they REALLY loved Pacifica. The whale watch community there grew exponentially, and folks were seeing at least one whale off the coast for a whole three months or so. Linda Mar Beach is my personal favorite spot to whale watch on land- because they get so close to shore! Humpbacks would feed at the take-off zone for the surfers, leading to many moments like this one.
People, go to Pacifica- seriously, it's such a hidden gem of a town. You haven’t truly lived until you’ve had a crunchwrap supreme in one hand, a spiked baja blast in the other, and some whales to entertain you.
